Video Conferencing for the National Probation Service

30 July 2009

When the West Mercia Probation Service decided to deploy Video Conferencing as a way of reducing internal travel costs and boosting productivity, they turned to their preferred Telephony partner, Voice 2 Voice Ltd. Voice 2 Voice Ltd in turn recognised that in order for a critical investment such as Video Conferencing to work and return its investment, it needed a high quality, managed network to run across. The Internet is neither and would eliminate any savings achieved by making the service unusable and Leased Lines would never financially pay.

Voice 2 Voice Ltd’s longstanding partnership with alwaysON meant that together they have been able to deploy a private, managed PBX and Video Conferencing network for the Probation Service, including the hosting of the Video Conferencing bridge within the alwaysON core network.

The savings (£45k) when set against the current travel costs and loss in productivity suffered by attending internal meetings are significant and by deploying the conference bridge within the core network, the Probation Service has avoided higher bandwidth costs at the Head Office where the bridge would normally be located.
